I have ordered a 38Gallon tank and would like to african cichlids in, I have no experience with these fish and need help please. Firstly, how many arfican cichlids could I keep in this tank Secondly, what species would be recommended for a beginner? I can't tell you how many to keep in that tank but don't put to many in, and keep an eye on your water. With that size of tank you will be limited to the amt of different species of cichlids you can put in there ie: one trio of yellow labs, one trio of cynatilapia afra.
That is just an example, you dont' want to get 2 of any 2 groups, like 2 lab species, 2 met species. I would stick to the cichlids which are smaller and less aggressive such as labs, cynatilapia afras, demonsonI you would have to put a group of 6 or larger together of those guys.
